Day 4: Wednesday, March 21

Looooong day today. The first ladies QR started at 11:30, and the second ladies QR didn't end until 23:15! Knowing that, I decided to skip ladies' practices in the morning.

Sabine Wojtala: 2L, 1f, 2L, 2a(2ft), 3s(fall), 3t(fall), 3s(fall). Ouch.

Pairs' Free Skate

Krasiltseva/Znachov: she singled or doubled everything and even skated through one jump altogether
Shklover/Mintals: skated to "Grease." Bad jumps and throws, but nice speed and lifts, good choreography.
Ponomareva/Sviridov: not clean, but nice.
LeFrancois/Blanchard: close call on split 3twist. She landed SBS 3t and 2a.
Wirtz/Wirtz: redeemed themselves after the sp. Nearly clean; landed SBS 3toes and 3sals. Standing ovation.
Berankova/Dlabola: really nice! much improved from last year.
Kawaguchi/Markuntsov: both fell in perfect unison on the SBS 3toes; she fell on a throw 3s.
Kautz/Jeschke: she fell or stumbled on a couple things.
Savchenko/Morozov: good; very high throw 2a
Rodionova/Kroukov: not bad except for a throw waltz jump
Pang/Tong: she slammed into the boards in warm-up. He stumbled on SBS 3t.
Scott/Dulebohn: she fell three times; apparently, she was skating injured.
Zagorska/Siudek: excellent, no major mistakes
Ina/Zimmerman: Kyoko fell twice; John landed everything
Totmianina/Marinin: clean
Bereznaya/Sikharulidze: rough split 3twist, but otherwise great!
Sale/Pelletier: she singled an axel; otherwise clean
Petrova/Tikhonov: he touched down on the SBS 3t
Shen/Zhao: clean, I think

I thought the judges would give it to the Russians (who I personally preferred), but of course, they didn't. It was great to see Jamie and David so excited - Jamie threw a stuffed bear into the air in the Kiss n' Cry and couldn't stop screaming. She kept saying "oh my God, oh my God" over and over again, LOL! I'm so happy for all the medalists, although Shen and Zhao seemed to be pretty disappointed. I wish Abitbol and Bernadis hadn't withdrawn, as I was really looking forward to seeing their "Angel and Devil" program again.

Ladies Qualifying Round, Group A

Julia Soldatova: 3s3t(2ft), 3L, 3f, 3t2t, 3l(fall), 2a, 3s

Tatiana Malinina: 3L, 3f(hand), 1l, 3t, 3s2t(2ft), 3L(2ft)2t, 2a
Mikkeline Kierkgaard: 2a2t, 3t2t, 2f, 3s2t, 3t, 3s, Charlotte, 2a, fell on last spin - oops. :)
Julia Sebestyen: 2a, 3L(fall out), huge 3f, ?(missed it), 3l(fall), 3L(step out)2t, 3s, 2t
Elina Kettunen: 3L, 3l, 3f, 2.5t, 1L, 3s2t, 1a
Michelle Kwan: fell on a 2a in warm-up, then seemed distraught and went to talk to the referee. I later found out the heel of her boot had come loose. When her name was announced to skate, she took almost the entire two minutes allotted to stroke around. Amazingly, she didn't seemed miffed at all by the incident, and proceeded to skate clean: 3l, 3t3t, 3L2t, 3f, 3s, 2a, 3L
Angela Nikodinov: 2a, 3Lstep2t, 3f, 3l, 3s, 3L, 2t2t
Maria Butyrskaya: 3f(2ft?), 2L, 3t-1/2l-2s, 3L, 3s(2ft), 3l2t, 2a
Susanne Stadlmueller: 3L2t, 3t(fall out), 3l2t, 2s, 2f, 1f, 2a
Fumie Suguri: 3L2t, 3f, 2a, 3t, 3l, 1L, 3s(step out)

I missed Galina Maniachenko, but was very surprised to learn she didn't qualify! I don't know what happened to her.
