I have to decide this week whether I'm going to extend my contract past December
or not. I'm pretty undecided at the moment.
Worked 5 days and at least 50 hours since last Friday. Thank goodness I quite like
the job, otherwise, I would've gone crazy! LOL Felt nice to finally sleep in a little
and relax today. Actually, I rode my bike around town for over an hour, partly for
some exercise and partly because I enjoy going through parts of town I don't get to
see very often.
Speaking of bikes, the police called me on Monday morning and said they found my red
bike, the one that had been stolen from my apartment back in January! I was quite
surprised. It was found in the next town over, so they were nice enough to put it in
their police van and bring it back to me. I was kinda disappointed when I saw it - the
circular key lock in back is completely busted in half, both tires are flat, and the
whole thing is a hell of a lot rustier than an 8-month-old bike should be. Must have
been left out in the rain constantly. I'll have to pump up the tires and have the lock
removed before I use it again. Don't know if I WILL use it, though, as of course I
bought another new bike last month and quite like it.
Coke C2 made its debut here on Monday. I think this is the world debut, not just the
Japan debut, so I guess I should feel special for having tried it already. I would
feel more special if it actually tasted different, though. Tastes a lot like Diet
Coke to me. Possibly a tad sweeter, I suppose.
Bought a study guide/book for the 2nd level of the Japanese Language Proficiency
Test, which I hope to take in December. (I passed level 3 last year.) The gap between
the 3rd and 2nd levels is huge, and the 2nd level looks pretty damn hard - but not
impossible. I'll have to study a lot, though. Gambarimasu!

A redder-than-usual sunset this evening.
Life is busy as usual, this month especially. I am continuing to work overtime,
and this week and next, I will be working nearly 50 hours. It's pretty exhausting,
but at least I have a couple short weeks in the second half of the month due to
two trips, which I'm really looking forward to!
A couple weeks after I got back to Japan, I started having severe pain in the back
right side of my mouth and my whole right cheek. Turns out my first wisdom tooth
was coming in! Seems awfully late, and I was/am not happy about it! Went to the
dentist, and they did some sort of laser treatment on it and gave me some medicine,
and the pain subsided substantionally, so I hope it stays that way. I'd rather not
have to have the tooth pulled, but I guess if it comes down to that, it's probably
cheaper to do it here in Japan than in the US. I'm assuming so,anyway - two dentist
visits including an x-ray, laser treatment, medicine, and a full general cleaning
cost about $80 even without insurance, and that's pretty cheap. And compared to the
couple hospitals I've seen/been to, the dentist office was quite clean and modern.
Just like in the US, they have crazy TV shows on here. Last night, there was an
entire 50-minute show showing some guy who had been challenged to do 10,000 push-ups
in one week. Basically, they just showed him doing push-ups and taking ocassional
breaks, saying how tired he was. He ended up doing 6,142, which is about 100 times
more than I ever plan to do in my lifetime!
Sayonara for now.
