It's been a week since I got back to Japan. I went to Minnesota for Golden Week -
it was my first time to the US since leaving 1.5 years ago! It felt kinda strange
to be back, actually, but it was so good to see my family and friends. I got to go
to the Mall of America and another mall, and eat at some of my favorite restaurants -
no Japanese food the whole week! :-) Another thing that made me happy was that my
beloved cat seemed to remember me - she hissed at me for a couple days, but she DID
sniff me and follow me around - she doesn't do that to strangers. I think they were
pissed-off hisses (for being gone so long) rather than frightened hisses. By the end
of the week, she'd almost completely warmed up to me...sucks that I had to leave. Of
course, it was sad to leave my family again, too. But I was actually really happy to
come back to Japan. I'd expected it to be hard (emotionally),but it wasn't. I'm hoping
my dad and possibly my mom and/or sister will come visit me in the fall.
My next planned trip is to Tokyo Disney Land next month!!
Compared to the cool Minnesota weather, it is SO hot and humid here. Well, more humid than
hot, but it WAS 80 inside my apartment this morning. Also, I thought the rainy season wasn't
supposed to start until June, but it's rained 3 out of the past 5 days and is supposed to
rain most of the next week. Good thing I threw out my 100-yen broken umbrella and invested
1100 yen in a new one yesterday!
Oh, I also bought a new bike last week when I came back. I hope this one lasts more than
3 months before it's stolen. I put 2 locks on it.
Still working overtime this month. Looks like a new teacher won't come until the end of July,
but hopefully an "emergency" teacher will come next month.
