November 11, 2000: According to a German team doctor and an ISU Press Report, Stefan was diagnosed with stretched ligaments in his right knee after his fall in the short program at Sparkassen Cup yesterday. Nothing is broken, thank goodness! He is expected to be off the ice for about three weeks; he will miss Trophee Lalique but should be fine for German Nationals in January. Evgeni Plushenko, the Russian National Champion who had to skate after Stefan, said "I feel very sorry for Stefan. He trained and was prepared for this competition. I tried not to watch and to focus on myself. It was terrible."

Best wishes, Stefan!!

November 10, 2000: Horrible news - in the short program at Sparkassen Cup, Stefan took a nasty fall on the 3axel and apparently injured his knee; he had to be taken off the ice on a stretcher. The seriousness of the injury is unknown at this time, but the rest of his season is in doubt. If you can read German, there's a short article about the incident here (which basically says the same thing I just did). Here's hoping for a speedy recovery....
